Having a website for your business is almost essential nowadays, but if you take it to the next level and accept payments through the Internet is vital to find a service that is reliable and you can trust. Can be key to differentiate yourself from the rest of your competitors leap ahead of them.

Maybe eBay or Etsy may be suitable alternatives to take the first steps but if you are getting independent and willing to do things in a more adjusted to what you offer, it may be time to include your own payment system on your website.

The options for installing a virtual store on your server are varied. There are many types of ecommerce platforms: free, charge, open source and implemented in different programming languages. Some of the most popular payment options are Volusion, Shopify or Magento Pretashop while are free, or Digistore OpenCart although there are many more.

However difficult it may seem its implementation are very easy to configure and most work the same way: redirect the client from your shopping cart on your web page to a secure payment system on your page, but you also tend to offer add a shortcut or button on your page. A secure encryption of your store can be a problem if you have no experience in the field so you might want to hire a web developer for you to solve it, although most service platforms offer a broad customer and help with installation.

Basically, you want your service is reliable, versatile (to accept more ways to pay better), and above all safe. Most procedures require a password that enables secure transaction and authenticates the cardholder credit.

Another aspect to consider is the legal one. Having an online store you’re supposed to follow the same laws in a physical store, but there are two that you should be alert to: the Law of Services of the Information Society (LSSI) and the Organic Law on Data Protection Personal (LOPD). Therefore, the conditions of purchase in the online store must inform in a clear and simple for consumers on the process that takes place and their rights.

They may seem many steps to take but the rewards can be great, as your potential customers will increase from the moment you open your online store.
